John Ashton paints predominantly in
oil, however his skill is wide and diverse, and he has a truly mesmerising talent of capturing the true essence of his subject. He is able to reflect the unique, haunting interpretation of light that enables the viewer to
'reach out and touch' the image.
His first collection of swans and little egrets,
exhibited in 2006, sold quickly. These pictures were captured in the beautiful habitat of his beloved Avon Estuary where he lives in the South Hams in Devon.
John has recently finished a triptych of
staghounds inspired by a visit to a French kennels where he found a
tumble of hounds
sunbathing, snoozing, stretching, stirring and waking on a warm June morning. This
large work entitled, 'Summer Life in Kennels', can be seen on the Originals gallery.
Ever expanding his range, John has just
finished two pictures of icicles, glistening and sparkling in the
sunshine (see the Originals gallery).
However, soon he will be starting work on more hounds, this time
the subjects will be a pack of harriers. Keep an eye on the web
site as you will be able to see the work in progress.
On this web site you will find for sale both original
